BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –– The Alabama Associated General Contractors (Alabama AGC) announces its endorsement of Katie Britt for United States Senate and Dale Strong for United States Congress. Alabama AGC believes that electing individuals who understand this industry and will work with our organization on relevant issues is paramount for our member companies to remain leaders in construction and positively impact economic and infrastructure development across the state.
“Over the past two years, when so many other businesses have been forced to close their doors or layoff employees, the construction industry has continued to grow, accounting for 3.6% of state’s GDP ($8.4 billion) and employing nearly 100,000 individuals last year,” said Billy Norrell, CEO of Alabama AGC. “However, many firms are also struggling because of a shortage of skilled workers and delays in obtaining materials. More than ever, we need elected officials who recognize these problems and will work with industry leaders in developing lasting solutions.”
Alabama AGC endorses candidates who will support investments and incentives to improve our state’s infrastructure; will work to expand apprenticeship and training programs to build a more skilled workforce; and will advocate for sensible tax and labor policies to empower businesses and ensure continued growth in the construction industry. We believe that Katie Britt and Dale Strong share these ideals and they have our full support on June 21st.
