National Work Zone Awareness Week is held each spring to raise awareness as roadway work gets into full swing. The goal is to remind everyone of the importance of paying attention as they approach and drive through work zones so that both motorists and roadway workers remain safe. Drivers are urged to pay attention to reduced speed limit signs, eliminate distractions and be watchful of for roadway workers and their equipment.
This year’s theme is You Play a Role in Work Zone Safety – WORK WITH US. Everyone plays a role in work zone safety so PLEASE join us as we share the message!Work Zones effect everyone! Your company may NOT be involved in building roads – BUT your employees drive to and from work everyday; and many are driving company vehicles. Please ask that they Drive Safely through Work Zones…and to always EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!! It is important that we all take a few moments to raise awareness and acknowledge how important safety is on our roadways and in our work zones. Spread the word…It could save a life!
AGC’s local Work Zone Safety Committee has been working hard promoting this message. This year Morris King with Vulcan Materials and “Millie” – AlabamaAGC’s Work Zone Safety Dog will be getting an early start spreading the message of Work Zone Safety as “Millie” begins her 2023 Lessons from Millie – Work Zone Safety campaign tour at the Alabama State Capitallater this week. Millie along with our talented committee created coloring books and Morris and Millie will be visiting 4th grade classrooms in several schools across the state spreading OUR message of work zone safety. Special Appreciation is extended to our “coloring book” sponsors: Coloring Book Sponsors 2023

(at ALDOT’s office) should be on the lookout for C & H Construction Services‘ special creation – W. Z.
