T.W. Pugh Excellence in Safety Award for Safety Managers

Safety has always been a vital part of the construction industry. Many of our members employ safety managers who have devoted themselves to making our workplaces safe. Many of these safety managers go above and beyond the call of duty within the industry. With this addition to the Build South awards AGC and CompTrust look to honor an individual from among our membership who exemplifies a commitment and dedication to safety that best reflects the values of the Alabama AGC; skill, integrity, and responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • Nominee must have spent a minimum of five years working in safety and health. Nominees who fill other roles within the company, human resources for example, are allowed. However, a concentration (50%) in safety and health is required.

  • Nominee must be an employee of the member company. Please do not nominate a consultant or contract employee.

  •  Employee must be nominated by an officer of the company.

Entry requirements

  • Completed online, entry form and $150 fee.

  • A list of the employee’s safety credentials; i.e. ASP, CSP, authorized OSHA trainer, etc.

  •  A list of organizations or committees your employee belongs to or contributes time to outside of their job duties: i.e. ASSP, NSC, conference committees, etc.

  •  A narrative explaining how the entry meets each of the following criteria (with two or three paragraphs on each. No more than five pages total:

    • Tell us about their contributions to the industry and to your company.

    • Explain their characteristics and accomplishments.

    • Explain their development of a safety culture within your company that includes management and employee involvement.

    • Explain the programs and policies they have developed.

  • Entries may also include media coverage, letters of commendation, and other supplementary material.

  • A minimum of three (3) 5 x 7 color photos (in .jpg format 300 dpi) and your company logo (in .jpg format).

  • Please package all files for submission in one (1) zip file no larger than 25 MB. or, if larger, provide link to file-sharing service.
