Birmingham, AL, July 6, 2020 – BHATE Geosciences Corporation (BHATE) celebrates 45 years of providing clients with innovative engineering solutions that save them time and money.

Uday Bhate, Senior Principal Engineer, founded BHATE in Birmingham in 1975. Since then, we have expanded our services, pioneered new technologies, experienced tremendous growth with over 90 team members and opened offices across Alabama (Opelika, Fairhope), Florida (Pensacola) and Mississippi (Gulfport and Richland).

BHATE’s success is attributed to our resilience in the face of challenges, willingness to adapt in times of change and ability to be insightful in our decisions. The industry has recognized BHATE with honors such as the American Consulting Engineering Council “Excellence Award”, SubAla “Engineering Firm of the Year” and Associated Builders & Contractors “Safest in the Industry” and “Excellence in Construction” awards. Uday Bhate was inducted in the Associated General Contractors of Alabama “Construction Hall of Fame” for being a voice of reason and authority in the construction industry.

Key projects over the firm’s 45 years include Amazon Distribution Center in Bessemer,  LSU University Medical Center, Grandview Medical Center, Encompass Health headquarters, Lyric Theater, The Summit Shopping Center, Auburn University Advanced Structural Testing Lab, Wind Creek Casino and Pensacola Bay Bridge, as well as dozens of projects for UAB, St. Vincent’s, Children’s of Alabama, ALDOT and MDOT.  One cannot drive through Birmingham without seeing BHATE signs on job sites or view the firm’s work on projects such as Interstate 20/59, the BJCC, Top Golf, Harbert Plaza, United States Treasury Building and Social Security Building and the building known for decades as the SouthTrust Tower.

Known to be a leader in engineering technology, BHATE was the first firm in Alabama to utilize applications such as ground penetrating radar (GPR). GPR is a geophysical method that uses radar pulses to image the subsurface to locate utilities and items such as underground storage tanks or through structures to map structural reinforcements.  BHATE used GPR on a university’s campus to map and differentiate miles of underground utilities to prevent line strikes during excavation.  This process saved their steam line replacement project substantial time and money and provided the client with updated and accurate utility maps.
