Legislative Update
The Alabama legislature met on Monday May the 18th for the final day of the 2020 regular session. They took care of some house keeping measures and agreed to the governor’s one change in the budget. They then adjourned sine die.
If and when there will be a special session(s) is anybody’s guess. Some have them coming back as soon as July others as late as September and others think not at all. We will have to wait and see.
On another front the governor continues to move forward on the construction of three new prisons. Proposals have been made by two construction companies. Thankfully both have Alabama and AGC ties. The process continues without input or inference from the legislature.
And the 1.25 billion dollar bond issue for school construction and improvements is on the way.
So, although the 2020 regular session was abbreviated, the legislature met all of its constitutional requirements.
We will wait for further developments.
Again, please stay safe.
Until next time. . . . . . .
