Alabama Department of Transportation employee Charlie Posey, who was injured by an impaired driver in 2017 while working on a survey crew in Montgomery, is featured in the work zone campaign along with his wife and daughter. Putting a face on work zone safety is a compelling way to reach people, as we saw with our previous campaigns that highlighted young men killed in the work zone. You will also see this “Drive Alert in Work Zones” message from Charlie and his daughter on billboards throughout the state.
Lamar Outdoor has graciously donated billboard space in several cities. ALDOT has also purchased billboard space to deliver this important message to drivers. To promote safety among your employees, check out the Safety Stand Down Tool Box 2020-NWZS-Tool-Box-Talk-Draft-3 You can select the slides from the presentation that relate most to your teams, and talk about that content in a Safety Stand Down meeting.
During the the COVID-19 pandemic, you might need to share the information on a bulletin board or electronically. And once business returns to normal, you will have the content ready to use in one of your crew meetings. Your company may not be involved in building roads – BUT your employees drive to and from work everyday; and many are driving company vehicles. Please ask that they Drive Safely through Work Zones…and to always EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!!
In an effort to have an idea of how many employees participate in this National Event, AGC is asking that each company register using the attached registration form.
It will not take more than a few moments to fill out this form.
