Over 5,000+ eighth grade students were exposed to real world, hands on activities of available construction related opportunities this week at the World of Works and SkillsUSA career expo. The expo was held on April 24-25, at the BJCC. Exposing students at such a young age to events like WOW is important to familiarize them with the construction industry. Construction is a growing industry with many different career paths.
Several high schools across the state of Alabama offer career technical programs with many different construction aspects. Two-year colleges like Lawson State Community College and Jefferson State Community College, offer certificate and degree programs in different trades of construction. Whether your student plans on attending a two-year college, four-year college or an apprenticeship program they will learn valuable information by attending events like World of Works.
